Have you ever stopped to think about how to determine your current fitness and wellness levels? Does your doctor ask you each time you visit if you believe yourself to be fit and well? Probably not. Nor does he likely give you any method for determining where you're at for yourself.
There are fitness centers everywhere, most staffed with counselors who can test your fitness level. But what about your wellness level. Are they one and the same?
The fact is, being fit and being well are totally different conditions. However, both are essential to maintaining your health.
Your wellness rating depends on your immune system, including the vitamins, supplements and nutrition you intake. It's a fact that people who are fit can sometimes be unwell, and well people can sometimes be unfit. However, when you combine the two and use sound principles based on clean living, exercise and healthy eating, you attain a state of balance that helps you to maintain both fitness and wellness.
Many people don't take the time to completely understand the advantages of being both fit and well. We read and |

Emotional health is a state of wellness that comes from understanding and acknowledging our emotions and finding appropriate ways to express them. As employees, we often bring emotional problems from our childhood or current family life into the workplace because we havent dealt with them effectively outside of work. This can seriously damage workplace relationships and lead to poor performance and negative feelings all around.
Many tools and techniques exist for helping us improve our emotional health. Some of the most common are given below, with real-life case histories illustrating their use. If an unpleasant mood or feeling persists over a length of time, dont hesitate to seek out a qualified professional. Corporate wellness programs usually have professional support already in place as part of their services.
1. Coaching/Counseling One of the hallmarks of emotional health is the willingness to ask for help when we need it. Confidential professional help, the coaching and counseling provided by employee assistance or wellness programs, can provide an external source of strength and insight for working out emotionally-based problems instead of working them in |

Increased cholesterol manifests itself as atherosclerotic plaque on the artery walls leading to myocardial infarction. Atherosclerosis is also an important reason leading to several conditions relating to caludication. Latest studies have shown that for every 1 percent drop in cholesterol levels, there is a 2 percent decrease in the risk of a heart attack.
A Brief Overview Of Lipids
The processing of dietary fat begins in the intestines and progresses to the liver. The fat requires a
delivery stream to the rest of the body in a way where it can be stored in fat cells for future use. Prior
to entering the delivery stream, the liver disintegrates dietary fat into Cholesterol and Triglycerides.
These chemical variants of fatty acids are packed into vehicles called lipoproteins for being transported
throughout the body using the bloodstream to transport the fat cells.
There are three kinds of lipoproteins:
-- Very Low Density Lipoproteins (VLDL)
-- Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL)
-- High Density Lipoproteins (HDL)
Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance that integrates |

Peak physical performance is the goal of every athlete. Proper training is of vital importance to achieve this goal. But keep in mind that while exercise moves the body, food not only fuels the body but actually makes the body.
We've all heard the analogy about needing to eat good food for high-energy fuel just as our cars need good gasoline. But a living organism is quite different from a car. Our fuel literally makes and remakes our bodies as we grow, metabolize, tear down, and ultimately rebuild our bodies on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly cycle. After several year's time, you will have replaced virtually every cell and other component that makes up your body! And what are those made up of? Everything you eat. So the adage is true: "You are what you eat!"
Nutritional Components of Peak Performance
Why is this significant? Because to achieve peak physical performance, you need "high-octane" fuel for peak energy and high-quality fuel for building and maintaining your physical "machine."
"High-octane" refers to the amount of energy that can be |

Another year, another beginning. For those among us who seemed to have just had it and kept smoking on top of their New Year's resolution list of things to banish for years, it's not too late to do so. Better late than never as that saying goes. But before it is too late, and I mean REALLY late, here are a number of ways to do to start kicking that puff addiction.
1.Learn new skills or hobbies. Since your mind is set to smoke in your idle time, for sure there could still be a thousand things out there you could engage yourself in to preoccupy yourself.
2.Create a diversion. Most working professionals specially now of booming call center industries, majority of whom working on graveyard shifts, have formed the habit of smoking as a means to keep awake. Try to find other methods that will work for you like taking a walk during your break or get busy with other co-workers who hopefully don't have formed smoking as a habit to bide by time as well. There may be a high chance however that |

Not everyone knows there are in fact many types of yoga. For those coming to a class to better their health or just enjoy a few moments of silence and meditation, here's a list of what other classes you might want to try and what distinguishes each from the rest.
Ashtanga or sometimes known as Ashtanga Vinyasa or Power Yoga involves performing a series of postures coupled with synchronized breathing. Since it is done in a hot room, it produces intense internal heat and the sweating caused detoxifies muscles and organs. It improves blood circulation, stamina, flexibility. It is physically demanding thus is not recommended for those just starting out.
Bikram yoga, like Ashtanga is done in a hot room though in this kind, the heat is turned up from 95 to 100 degrees. The sequence of postures performed is usually done twice per session. The extreme heat similarly promotes flexibility, detoxification and prevention of injuries.
Hatha is another form which is considered to be the most popular, and is the foundation of all other yoga styles. It incorporates patterned breathing, posture |

Many business owners say that if you want a business that will always have customers, then go for a food-based business. This is probably the reason why the catering industry has remained strong throughout the years. It is still one of the most profitable businesses today, offering a huge potential in terms of financial and professional growth. Here are some tips on what you should do to successful launch a catering business startup:
Get information about the industry
It would help a lot if you can cook or have a good knowledge about food and wine. Being an excellent cook and having the ability to prepare great dishes will help you sell your catering business. This is true particularly if you have several specialties and at least one signature dish.
If not, then at least have a partner you can trust who can help handle the business. Next, consider your market and the industry as a whole. Do you have a ready niche you can tap? What kind of business can you expect from them? Will the business be brisk or seasonal? How much |

Don't you just love getting yourself pampered and spending one lazy afternoon at the spa getting a back rub? You'll be pleased to know then that there's a whole lot of ways you can give that back of yours a good treat. Take a pick at the following list of the popularly practiced massages today.
Aromatherapy is massage that makes use of scented oils to suit specific needs. The oils have different soothing effects like stress-relief, relaxation and invigoration, among others. Lavender is one of the most-commonly used and has a very lingering sweet scent.
Swedish is seemingly the most common massage type used. It employs the use of pressure on the muscle while lotion or oil is applied. Methods include circular movements, tapping, long strokes and kneading. This type increases blood circulation and eliminates toxins.
Shiatsu meanwhile uses the pressure of the fingers as well as the palms, elbows and knees to particular points of the body called "meridian", holding these points with a rhythmic pattern. It improves energy flow and helps the body regain balance.
Thai massage includes stretching |

As a practitioner of homeopathy for the last many years, hence, an observer of human health, I say its time to refresh history. Upon listening to the rhetoric of the AMA, one might be convinced that our lives are richer, healthier and with greater longevity and wellness than in previous decades due to their members. It can be noted otherwise.
I have observed that many people lived well into their nineties and even older in pockets of American society in the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. My home is in an old farming community in Western New York that was settled by Germans. There is a lovely cemetery nearby, chock full of head stones with dates as a testimony to prolonged endurance of the folks in my area. Since Ive been interested in the subject of longevity, Ive meandered through other cemeteries in rural areas and have made the same observation time and againpeople often lived into their late 80s, 90s and frequently over 100 in the last two centuries.
These were often not urban dwellers, but those who |

The subject of headaches is a vast one, but neednt be elusive. Homeopathy has a reputation for addressing headaches squarely without side effects and worsening of the person in general.
The first step in bringing the person to a better state of being is to stop taking analgesics. Tylenol, aspirin and their derivatives admittedly remove the pain, but only to suppress the illness and throw it into the future with greater vitality. Homeopathy, on the other hand, is reputed for not only relieving the headaches, but eliminating them permanently for the future. Homeopathy addresses all illness on an individual basis, so headache relief needs to be addressed in the same way.
Read through the following remedies and choose the best one for your situation. Then take a dose every hour until relief is sustained. When relief is at hand, stop. Lets look at the top remedies for this malady:
The first remedy to consider for headaches that are in the face is Kali Bichromium30. These headaches present above or between the eyebrows or |

Nearly 50% of Americans residing in the United States use some type of vitamin or vitamin supplement ever day. Even though they may take vitamins, most are unaware of the fact that nearly 90% of the nutrients and minerals found in the vitamin isnt properly absorbed by the body, which means they are virtually watered down and most of their benefits proven to be not effective.
Almost all individuals who take vitamins use the pill form. Pills were once thought of to be the best, simply because they were the only vitamin sources. These days, liquid vitamins are much more effective, and people are starting to realize it. Although many use pills or chewable vitamins, they arent getting near the benefit they think they are.
Vitamins and supplements are very popular, especially for those who have active lifestyles and find it difficult to consume the necessary vitamins and minerals they need from the proper meals. Therefore, those with busy lifestyles turn to vitamins and supplements to give their bodies what it needs to carry out day to day activities. Even though you |

Apart from the outside, overtraining portends serious problems on the body's metabolism and sometimes fatally. Some of these hazards brought about by overtraining are mostly found within the metabolic system. They include muscle tearing, depletion of the cretin phosphate, accumulation of lactic acid, irreparable damage of the tendons and muscles that connect the joints and other important body organs. These adverse effects are usually permanent while some can be checked but could take time to heal as well as exposing one to one of the most excruciating pain one has ever been exposed to.
Overtraining is not a cup of steaming cappuccino; it is a serious hazard to the body and life of a bodybuilder due to the myriads of fatal effects experienced within the entire body, bringing about lethal irreparable damages upon the cells of muscles and tissues. The different overtraining instances are known and as a result can then be prevented through distinct ways. Any form of overtraining will increase the odds of specific doses of negative effects.
Most of the overtraining that involves cardio or even aerobics is worse and |

Many bodybuilders fail to achieve there goals despite working hard in the gym. This is because although they are training intensely as required they fail to maintain a proper bodybuilder's diet. In fact the number one reason why many bodybuilders fail is because they are on a very wrong diet to begin with.
If you ask any body builder who has succeeded in attaining large muscles and at the same time maintaining a good body physique, they will probably tell you it has something to do with the nutrition they are taking. Even if you are just starting out in bodybuilding you still have to master the art of measuring, quantifying, and putting down each food take in your diet.
Only by mastering the errors many body builders make in terms of there nutrition can you be able to achieve true success in body building. Some of these errors have been listed below;
1. Eating A Lot
Many body builders are of the opinion that if they eat too much food they will be able to achieve muscle gain. This |

The holidays are the time for over eating and drinking. So what can we do to prepare? Have the following remedies on hand and then pass the turkey, potatoes, pie, and wine.
The best way to use these homeopathic remedies is to take one dose every 3-4 hours over the period of 1-2 days. When improved, stop.
1) When over eating has caused nausea that you wish would just produce vomiting to get it over with, then your remedy is Nux vomica 30.
2) Nux vominca is also a capitol choice for the proverbial hangover. It will end nausea and vomiting in relatively short order.
3) When relentless vomiting is the main symptom, try Ipecac 30.
4) When there is simple indigestion and over acidity, then Nat phos 6x can be taken every hour. Use in place of antacids.
5) For true food poisoning such that causes chills, stomach pains and anxiety then Arsenicum album 30 should be taken. This is best saved for when your turkey is tainted.
Try these tried and true homeopathic |

Stress is starting to move its way up the list of everyday killers that we never see coming. In today's crazy work world people are working hours and hours on end. You can ask yourself what that means to you and your life but I know to most of us it means less and less time to relax and way more time spent at the office.
When the body is under stress bad things happen. Arteries constrict and blood pressure sky rockets. You need to understand that while this does not cause permanent damage, if left unchecked the body can wreak havoc. You see, when this happens for several minutes or even a day it may not be that big of a deal.
But when these conditions persist for years or even just without a break, the body will start to seriously break down. When it comes to your career I'm sure like most of us you want to try to do as well as possible and hopefully get promoted to a better and higher position. What you don't know is that |

Your low startup home business may not have as much resources as your bigger competitors, but that doesn't mean you can't earn as much profit as they do. Use the creative marketing strategies below to make your business generate gigantic returns.
Take advantage of the holidays
Holidays give people a valid reason to spend more than usual and it's a reason that most grasp eagerly with both hands. You need to take advantage of this by offering special products, services, or promos.
Christmas, for instance, is the season of giving and as such, if your home business can offer products that make perfect Christmas gifts, your business is sure to enjoy fantastic sales during the holidays.
Valentine's Day, on the other hand, is a time for romance so you need to focus on pleasing customers not as individuals but as couples. Your strategies will be even more effective if your low startup home business can offer products with distinctive offers for boyfriends and girlfriends, engaged couples, and married couples. Consider as well those who are still in the dating stage as well as those who are planning to get back |

Yesterday, the Grecos thirteen year old son, Anthony, got sick. They had their parents wedding anniversary celebration at their house and he couldnt join in. He was dreadfully weak, had a whistley wheeze and every breath he took was painful. His eyes were drawn and pale and he was also nauseous. This was one of those illnesses that could easily have turned into bronchitis or worse. His mom had suffered frequent bouts of asthmatic bronchitis as a child and his dad, too, had such bouts as a youngster.
But, there is something different in Anthonys life than in most other children in the U.S. He has homeopathy as his method of healthcare. In fact, as a result of it, he has never had an aspirin, Tylenol or antibiotic in his thirteen years of life. He is a drug free kid. Had his parents adhered to the dictates of conventional medicine, Anthony wouldve been dragged to the doctors office for an antibiotic, analgesic, inhaler and perhaps a steroid just as the party was gathering for the celebration |

As a homeopathic consultant for many years, I find the inspiration of homeopaths before me to be of encouragement and worthy of emulation. Two great women stand as a beacon of light in our world of interest-group medicine that is so prevalent in todays world.
Dr. Dorothy Shepherd, my posthumous mentor, was an English medical doctor practicing in hospital clinics and emergency rooms after WW1. She used conventional methods learned in medical school, hospitals and clinics. Then, as luck would have it, she learned of homeopathy via veterinarians and homeopathic physicians abounding in England at the time. After putting her full attention to the study of this vast body of medical literature, she slowly began incorporating it into her daily practice in the emergency room and clinic where she worked.
As WW11 rolled around and trauma became a customary fair, she wholly depended on her new medicine entirely. Since Dr. Shepherd advanced to using homeopathy full time, she never reverted to the ways of old again. Having a full staff at her call, she taught and instructed them |

Homeopathy has a reputation throughout the world for addressing the most vicious and debilitating disease. Yet, it is often criticized by adherents to modern medicine for another reason. They say since homeopathy is made form extraordinary dilutions, that it cant have value. What is difficult for them to wrap their heads around is that there is blueprint in everything on this earth. Its inability to be seen doesnt eliminate its existence. Indeed, electricity cannot be seen and was not even measurable until relatively recently. Yet, it undeniably exits. Certainly, the criticism flung towards homeopathy regarding its tiny proportions is precisely the reason for its powerful ability.
Take Hypericum perf, for example. This remedy, in its undiluted, material form, is St. Jonns Wort. It is commonly known as an herb that is capable of calming nerves and reducing nerve pain, such as after dental drilling and injuries of nerve rich areas. It can be a powerful analgesic when given after a crushing blow to the fingers, toes or tail bone. However, when taken |

Conjunctivitis. Pinkeye. Eye infection. What ever you call it, it means the same thing: inflammation of the conjunctiva. It often troubles children, but adults can also be afflicted and it is very contagious. Yet, conjunctivitis is rarely serious. If subterraneous layers of the eye are affected, there is concern for deeper pathology, yet this is an uncommon occurrence. If viral in nature, no antibiotic will affect it and it will secrete clear and watery tears, while discharges that are colored thick, yellow or greenish, are bacterial. Even without treatment, most of these infections resolve within 10 days or so.
A worthwhile way to treat this illness is with the herb eyebright or Euphrasia. If purchased in alcohol as a tincture, it needs to be diluted 1:25. That is, one drop of tincture to 24 drops of warm water. This mixture is then dropped by an eye dropper directly into the eye. If this is not possible, a clean cloth dipped in the solution can be gently placed and squeezed into it.

So this guy said: If you really want your blood pressure to go down to normal, you ought to go to a homeopath. Everyone at the party listened. Probably because many of them were on hypertension medication and wished they could get off. They were also interested because everyone knows homeopathy is an alternative and that means no side effects, no costly pharmaceutical bills and the potential for total relief. But I wonder if that guy and the others know that homeopathy is a medical method that has a world wide reputation for reducing both the systole and diastole of high blood pressure naturally? And that it doesnt require ceasing the present conventional drug? The person can take them simultaneously since homeopathy doesnt interfere with conventional meds. However, as this little party recognizes, high blood pressure medications frequently fail to show a benefit. This is a perfect opportunity for homeopathic remedies to make good. Once the remedy begins to act, it only makes sense to eliminate the drugs and continue on |
