Learning to Manage Stress |

Stress is starting to move its way up the list of everyday killers that we never see coming. In today's crazy work world people are working hours and hours on end. You can ask yourself what that means to you and your life but I know to most of us it means less and less time to relax and way more time spent at the office.
When the body is under stress bad things happen. Arteries constrict and blood pressure sky rockets. You need to understand that while this does not cause permanent damage, if left unchecked the body can wreak havoc. You see, when this happens for several minutes or even a day it may not be that big of a deal.
But when these conditions persist for years or even just without a break, the body will start to seriously break down. When it comes to your career I'm sure like most of us you want to try to do as well as possible and hopefully get promoted to a better and higher position. What you don't know is that
most higher up positions require strong health screenings and one of the main reasons people don't get their dream jobs is because of stress management issues.
That irony should be really obvious. You worked so hard to climb the career ladder but it turns out you don't get to move up because you should have taken more time off. Sometimes decreasing stress is not about how many days you work or even how many how many hours you work. You see the really interesting thing about dealing with stress is that you can easily overcome it if you take frequent breaks when working.
All you need to do is know when you take some time for yourself when you are at work. The way I got to do this was to sit down at my desk and try to work out what it was that was causing me the most stress in my life. From there I would see if there was some way I could try to avoid this my planning breaks at the time of the most stressful activities and see if I could instead do more productive things at this time or even take a break.
A refreshing 15 minute break is all you need to reset your system and be able to go on with your regular work.
